GlobalVibe — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information GlobalVibe ("the app", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. GlobalVibe is operated by James Anthony Rodwell, an individual sole trader based in the United Kingdom.

By using GlobalVibe you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What we collect

When you use GlobalVibe, the following information may be collected and stored on our backend (Google Firebase):

• Account information — your email address, display name, and a profile photo (optional).
• Content you create — your moods, vibes, posts, photos, comments, and any captions you add.
• Location — approximate location (city or country level) when you choose to attach a vibe to a place or when contributing to the live vibe map. You can disable location at the OS level at any time.
• Device identifiers — a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) push notification token so we can send you in-app notifications. This token does not personally identify you.
• Usage data — limited app interaction events (e.g. login, post creation) used to keep the app working reliably. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

2. What we don't collect

• We do not collect precise GPS location.
• We do not collect contacts, calendar entries, microphone, or health data.
• We do not use third-party advertising networks, trackers, or behavioural ad targeting.
• We do not sell your data to anyone.

3. How we use your information

We use your information only to operate the app, including:

• Letting you create an account and sign in.
• Displaying your posts, moods, and vibe map contributions to other users in line with your privacy choices.
• Sending you push notifications when others interact with you (you can disable these in your Settings or at the OS level).
• Aggregating anonymous data (e.g. "top moods this week") to power features like the global vibe ticker.
• Investigating reports of abusive or harmful content.

4. Who can see your content

GlobalVibe is a social app. Content you post is generally visible to other users, including:

• Your followers (for posts and moods).
• All users (for contributions to the live vibe map and aggregate counts).

You can block any user (Settings → Blocked users) which prevents them from seeing your content and vice versa. You can also report content that breaks our rules.

5. Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the in-app Settings screen. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, moods, photos, and personal information from our active database. Anonymised aggregate data (which cannot be tied back to you) may be retained for app analytics.

Posts and moods automatically expire after 3 days as part of GlobalVibe's "in-the-moment" design.

6. Where your data lives

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers, primarily in the europe-west2 region (London). Firebase is operated by Google LLC and is compliant with major privacy frameworks including the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and Apple's App Store privacy requirements.

7. Children

GlobalVibe is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data.
• Object to processing.
• Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures (TLS in transit, Firebase Security Rules at rest, authentication via Firebase Auth). No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above.
